NOTE: I think this author's strength is her "suspense" writing vs. her "romance" writing. She sure knows how to write a bad guy. Just not so much a good romance heroine.

COMMENTS/NOTES: 
I'm so disappointed! Honestly, the last 30% of this book pretty much ruined the whole book for me. I was going to rate this book a 4.25 until about 70% into this. The last 30% of this book - or should I say the heroine - got on my nerves so bad, I can't rate it any higher than a 2.75. & it's such a SHAME too because the beginning of this was so, so, so good. 

The book dropped off for me once the heroine was out of survival mode. We left the intriguing edge-of-your-seat suspense realm & stepped into annoying info realm towards the end. We get stuck reading "nobody really gives a crap" descriptions of the characters' clothing & such... and... ugh - I'm fighting the indigestion the thought of this gives me - the heroine's internal monologue. She has the most ridiculous "I am a romance author after all" thoughts that amped up her annoyance to unbearable. Ouch! What a belly ache. Sorry that I'm so negative about this, but it's honestly how I feel.

So... despite my bottomless TBR pile, I just had to get this book - which I did not even 5 mins ago. I can't wait to get the free time to start this. The whole concept of this book is intriguing. Here this dude is just minding his own business just chill'n when all of a sudden he gets a S.O.S text from this unknown damsel. The dude is a Marine, so you know it's not within him to leave this for the cops to handle. Nope... looks like the dude is going to go save the damsel himself. Tick-tock, tick-tock... let the adventure begin ladies & gentlemen... & here's hoping my free time comes sooner rather than later.

COMMENTS/NOTES: I was going to read this book - PERIOD - but I read it sooner than I had planned. One of my buddies read this & seemed to have enjoyed it, so I ended up checking it out right away. I'm glad I did because I really had a good time with this one. This is a fun, lighthearted read. If you're in the mood for something "more" emotional & angsty, I suggest skipping this book until you're in the mood for something lighthearted or you might be too critical & not appreciate the enjoyment of this book. A fun, hot, sexy book!

COMMENTS/NOTES: The relationship between the H & h just moved way TOOOOOOOOO slow. They waited tooooo unrealistically long to do "the deed". Don't get me wrong, it wasn't the lack of sex scenes that bothered me - because I can accept a "clean" romance "if" done right - it was how "unrealistic" the whole lack of sex was. This couple had sexual fantasies about one another, which the author descriptively wrote about. They even eventually sleep in the same bed. However, they don't get down to the nitty gritty until a few months after living together & sleeping in the same bed. The author needed to either make this a "clean" romance & stick with it, or she should have made this couple's physical relationship more reflective & consistent with the fantasy sex they had going on. How the author wrote this made the couple's whole relationship confusing & inconsistent - resulting in frustration for this reader.

COMMENTS/NOTES: This book was a surprise like for me. Book's kudos:

1. The heroine!

2. The heroine! - FINALLY! A heroine I could appreciate. The h is just as 'rough' around the edges as the H is. She definitely isn't a pushover, & she gives as good as she gets. She's not some clinging gal. She wants her space just as much as the H. I enjoyed reading a h like this for a change. She wonderfully "tough" & yet feminine at the same time. Something I find most authors have a hard time balancing. 

3. The H & h were on 'equal footing'. Because of how wonderfully this author portrayed this h, the H&h both were equally intimated of one another; thus, "justifiably" equally impressed with one another. Us readers weren't expected to accept this couple just because the big, bad alpha H & his magical peen grunts "MINE" to the h. 

4. The story's flow & intelligence. This author did a well thought out story. To me, it was a combination of a biker book from the H's aspect, & a good military suspense from the h's aspect.

5. No "game" playing between the H&h. Luv'd how honest they were with one another. It saved this reader a lot of frustrations.

Here's another book I'm way out in left field with compared to the other favorable reviews.  I just don't get it.  This book left me depressed, & in a way, feeling kind of betrayed by the H in this story & the author.  I spent money & time on this book.  You could say I was 'invested' in this book.  And like ANY "romance" book I read, I'm expecting a HEA.  Well...

I totally felt robbed of a HEA & the romance of this book due to the sick H's "ex-wife".  I'm too exhausted to go into all the details of this book, but while the H ends up married to the h @ book's end, he still spends time with his ex-wife once a week - until either one of them dies.  Quite frankly, it feels like the H is still emotionally intimate with his ex-wife.  That robs the romance build-up between the H & h I spent the whole book reading about.  And because the ex-wife is still in the H's life like this, it robbed me of a HEA feel-good-vibe.  It's like the ex-wife can snap her fingers @ a moment's notice & the H will take off running to her.  I want to know that the the h is it for the H & that she will ALWAYS come 1st - but I don't & can't feel like that as long as the H "allows" the ex in his life.  At the end, I feel like this is a 3 persons relationship.  That really bums me out!  

I don't think I've ever been so dumbfounded by a book I've read before than with this one.  I'm confused on how I feel about what I just read. I'm not even for sure what I just read. I can't even rate what I just read.

There were points in this book I was sure I wasn't going to be able to finish it. Then I would read something that would string me along a little bit further. Then I'd go back to the DNF mode. Then back to gotta-know-what-happens-next mode. Yide'da! I'm suffering from emotional whiplash I tell ya. 

There's so much that's different about this book. Stuff I've never read the likes of before nor quite to the author's take on them before. There were things on the opposite ends of 1 another happening. You have the h's Catholic faith & the belief of God expressed in this book. The beginning of the book even starts out with a scripture quote. But in the same token, this is a very sexually explicit book. In fact, the sexual banter & innuendos between the H & the h is some of the hottest I've read in a long time. Also, the h is married to another dude the majority of this book, but you forget about hubby & want a H & h hookup. (But the hubby turns out to be not so so great anyways.) 

Then there's the writing. The h acts & says some very immature things. To the point that you think the author must be a young'n. Then the author totally surprises you & writes some of the funniest, wittiest dialogue for the H. 

Then there were things in the book I was mad about. The book starts out with the h trying to commit suicide. I was mad @ the reasoning why. And then I was annoyed by small info like the Catholic h having the priest offer her ice tea during confession, & her drinking it! Hello! I grew up Catholic, & it may have been a while since I've been to confession, but I can tell you that NO priest will be offering you a beverage in the confessionals. LOL!! I'm laughing my butt off just thinking about that now. 

Bottom line, there were things I just didn't like about this book. Period. However, the author was so different in her content, I can't help but to like her for being such an odd ball.

I LUV'D this book!!!  I don't know how I'd have felt if I read this book 2 weeks ago, or how I'd feel if I read this 2 weeks from now, but right now, today.... I LUV it! It's just what I needed!   This book was a soothing balm to my recent frustrations in my romance book world.   What a sweet, endearing romance. Both the hero & heroine are the types of characters I like & enjoy reading about. Their dedication to one another.... ahhhhh.... sigh. It melted away some of the ugly in the world. I truly didn't want this story to end.  It's been ages since I've felt like that.  I was so impressed with the talent of this author.  I'm ready to read more of her work.   

I found the plot interesting:  A motorcycle gang goes against an Italian mob. The motorcycle gang travels all across the country, when called upon, to get & protect of the heroine, a principessa to a crime family. 

This book turned out to be a BIG disappointment for me.  It started out really good, but somewhere around the 50% mark, things went south for me.  I felt the the 2nd half was a different book from the 1st half written by a different author.  

We all have our different likes & taste.  This book wasn't it for me.  I like "romance" in my romance books; thus, is the reason I mainly read books of the romance genre in the 1st place.  I personally don't consider this book suited for this genre.  For one thing, the "hero" doesn't really treat woman well in general, let alone the gal the author is trying to convince us readers he has a "luv connection" with.  And the heroine?  I was disguised with how little self respect this gal had for herself and how poorly she "allowed" the "hero" to treat her.  Yuck!  A thousand times YUCK!  No, I think it's safe to say that the "romance" isn't really working in a story when it leaves one with the desire to puke over the character treatment of one another & themselves.  That's my opinion of the matter, anyway.  I'm sure other will enjoy this story; I'm just not one who did.
